Mobile Legends Professional League PH 2018
Overview
Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League is a mobile games competition held in South East Asia. Each season, different teams compete each other for the prize pool. After the successful launch of the season 1, we were once again commissioned to design and develop the website for season 2.

Challenge
For the season 2 version of the site, we have to come up with solutions to address the following:
- come up with a new theme base on the logo and a handful of character assets provided to us for reference
- use blue as the main theme color in line with the color used by other partner countries
- show important details of the tournament on the landing page
- make it easy for the client to update the contents of the site
- develop everything in a span of 2 weeks
Designing for Esports Enthusiast
With only the logo and art materials as our resources for the design, we came up with a classic retro Japanese “mecha” theme and a play of typography on the UI. Our strategy is to make the website as lightweight as possible but at the same time appeal to the young generation of gamers. We tweaked the character assets and converted them into line arts.
Features
The website was built using WordPress as the CMS and with a theme custom built from scratch. WordPress was our perfect choice as it helped the client easily upload the contents for the news and “video on demand” sections and update the current standings of the teams during the tournament.
